This expanse of gem-like emerald green squares could be the surface of a huge mosaic of ceramic tile, shot through with delicate silver-blue cracks. The largest vein of blue, on the left, draws our eye; towards the lower center, an explosion of color fans out on either side. Squares of light spring green scattered throughout serve as punctuation. This is actually an artificially colored satellite image showing a 2016 flood in the American Midwest. The swollen muddy brown rivers are colored bright aquamarine to distinguish them from where the farmland is bright emerald green.
