Impact Crater, 2016

This mysterious circular depression on the surface of Mars could be an ink drawing of a surrealist dreamscape. Its creamy edges are of uncertain depth, and we’re drawn into its center as if into a giant eye. A smaller crater, like a dimple, at upper right punctuates the lustrous opaque surface. Both are probably impact craters, formed by a high-speed collision with a smaller body.
