Tumbling into a Fjord, 2016

This satellite image shows glaciers flowing into a fjord in southeastern Greenland. The glaciers look like cascading rivers of white lace, while the fjord appears viscous, less like water and more like a spill of rich emerald-green paint. Mottled rocky cliffs ring the fjord, serving as ramps for the flowing ice. NASA scientists made this image during their annual aerial survey of polar ice in the Arctic.
