TV Static Abstract #5, 2004

Rick Doble

A small percentage of the thermal radiation left over from the Big Bang can be perceived as television static. To create this organic-looking artwork, the artist starts by capturing abstract images of static noise displayed on empty TV channels. The artist then enhances the image to surface visual imagery, colorful shapes, and geometric patterns. The final work displays a mesmerizing and mysterious visual echo of the Big Bang.
