Field Transitions, 2014

Sean Capone

Fascinating transitions of colored shapes and patterns bloom and die away in this artwork. Initially created as a constantly transforming generative artwork, Capone’s process is a collaboration between human and machine, the perfect forum for experimenting with issues of time and transitory states. He’s inspired by early abstraction: nonrepresentational art that aimed to translate the expressiveness of sound and spirituality into visual compositions, like the work of Vassily Kandinsky. In this 21st-century approach to that style, Capone creates software that generates abstract imagery that produces endless imaginative possibilities.
