Our Art / Franz Innocenz Kobell
Born into a German family of artists, Kobell (1749–1822) studied at esteemed art schools across Europe. and eventually became the court painter of Germany. His work ranges from landscape scenes painted in fine detail to nature studies of trees and foliage, painted in loose, sweeping strokes. Incredibly prolific, he preferred to work quickly and loosely, leaving behind more than 10,000 etchings and pen drawings after his death.
