Our Art / Robert French
Born in Dublin, French (1841–1917) worked his way up in a photography studio from printer to photographer. French contributed to the studio’s collection, one of the most significant early photographic collections documenting Ireland, consisting of some 30,000 glass-plate negatives that French took. French traveled to every region in Ireland, photographing famous landmarks and monuments in Dublin and the Irish countryside. even documenting land evictions which were taking place during the period.
