Théophile-Alexandre Steinlen

A French painter and printmaker, Théophile Alexandre Steinlen (1859–1923) is known for his iconic paintings and prints of the Art Nouveau style, which favored natural forms and curves. He moved to a Parisian neighborhood where artists lived to become an artist himself, and illustrated posters for the bohemian cabaret culture. Steilen is most well-known for his illustrations of cats, which he was fond of for their charm, movement, and character, and he often used his own cats as models for his artwork.
